Monochrome Volumes

project completed during tenure at formwerkz architects

A bungalow dwelling with a clean aesthetic of sharp lines and light-filled interiors awash in monochrome tones. The different spaces within the home are expressed as contrasting monochrome volumes on the facade. The white expanse of the living spaces on ground contrasts the recessed black volume of private bedrooms, which snuggles beneath a charcoal grey aluminium roof which frames the entertainment space on the top floor. Envisioned as an unfolding sequence of spaces, a split level study space is tucked below the stairs to the third floor, and the level above the study is planned as a spacious roof terrace. The split level opens up the house considerably, opening up diagonal views from any level within the home. As featured in Cubes Magazine.
