JYU HOTEL BRANDING
Check Inn Hotels
Branding design for a new capsule hotel along Smith Street — the historical street where the famous Lai Chun Yuen, a three-storey, 834-seater theatre built in 1887 is housed.
Inspired by the typology of a Cantonese opera theatre, the team researched its beginnings and found similarities between the voyage boat used by traveling cantonese opera troupes and the typology of a capsule hotel. The Chinese term for opera theatre, "ju yuan", sparked the name of the hotel and the branding elements. The brand identity and the spatial palette are aligned, tapping on sage green accents and a soothing palette of neutrals such as pale beige wood and cream.
